Take Action! Tutorial Video

Q: How do I use the site?

A: Watch the video walkthrough above or read the FAQ on this page.

Q:  What is Karma?

A:  The Take Action virtual community allows you to give karma points to comments left by other users! Once you've read a comment a user has left about today's action, you can GIVE them karma points based on how much good you think their action has caused. Likewise, you can EARN karma points by posting thoughtful and helpful comments about the day's action. Other users will give you karma is they think your comment has helped create good.

Q:  How do I check my Karma points?

A:  Click on "My Profile" in the blue bar (you must be logged in to do this) and you will be able to see your login name, Karma level and the actions you've completed.

Q:  Why Karma?

A:  A reference to Karma is found within many spiritual and cultural traditions. Within all of these definitions of Karma, one idea holds consistent. Karma is an act and that act has a cause and effect. This is at the crux of what Take Action is all about, so it seemed fitting to name the points Karma! If you cause good, then the effect will be good. It is believed that good karma circles back to you, so this is why your actions garner you karma. You are doing good in the world when you take action. The question is, how much good have you caused?

Q:  What are Groups?

A:  Groups allow you to stay connected with other people who are participating in the Take Action project. Through the Groups page you can see who is a member of your group, how many Karma points other members have, and check out their user profile. This makes it easy to see what other members in your group are up to!

Q:  How do I know if I am a member of a group?

A:  Click on "Show" for that group and you can see a list of all current members. Your login name should be listed if your membership has been accepted.

Q:  How do I know if someone has requested membership?

A:  If you are the administrator, all membership requests will show up under the group's page. You can choose to either accept or deny the membership request.

Q:  Can I be a member of more than one group?

A:  Yes!

Q:  Why can't I see "Today's Action"?

A:  The site is best viewed with a browser other than Internet Explorer. Try using a web browser like Firefox, Safari, or Google Chrome - all of them can be downloaded for free!
